Biodiversity conservation in Saint Gemme, Saintes

For the tinted REY Adagio paper, we have chosen to support a local biodiversity project in France, the ‘Dousselin’ Project. That’s a Natura 2000 protected area in Saint Gemme, in Saintes. It protects 2 hectares of the Natural Park of the Auvergne Volcanoes and is home to many different plants and birds species.

The approach to conservation and sustainable use of the Natura 2000 areas is largely centered on people working with nature rather than against it.

Our partner? Natura 2000.

Natura 2000 is a European network of Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Special Areas of Conservation (SACs). It offers core breeding and resting sites for rare and threatened species. Some are rare natural habitat types which are protected in their own right. It covers all 27 EU countries, both on land and at sea. The aim of the network is to ensure the long-term survival of Europe's most valuable and threatened species and habitats, listed under both the Birds Directive and the Habitats Directive.
